Teen joins toiletry drive for assisted-living center
Amanda Gach approached several members of her church congregation with a simple plea: She needed toiletry items, such as shampoo and toothpaste, for needy senior citizens at the Grove Crest Assisted Living Center in Pontiac.

Many Join Community Thanksgiving Dinner
Area churches, villagers and businesses banded together to make Thanksgiving a day of giving thanks for close to 200 diners. Chief cook Darryl Edmiston, a local businessman and SCUBA diving pro, praised his team of cooks, dishwashers, dinner prep help and servers with these words: “Thanks for all the work you each did, along with all the others who really worked behind the scenes.”
